Head East is obscure?
My Classic Rock stations of old (and new) always play this tune.

Siruis Satelite likes em too.

Well, if someone asked you to name 70s groups, you'd think of Styx, Boston, Edgar Winter Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, Bad Company, Tom Petty, the Stones, etc.
How often would Head East come up?

Sure, it's a great song...but how many people would really know it was by Head East? Not many, I don't think, no matter what the rotation it gets on Sirious.

But I could be wrong (projecting).

No, I think you're right. At least mostly. It's not the most obscure band, but it isn't one of the bands that pop up first in discussions of seventies stuff. Not by a long shot.

One of the reasons I guess I feel Head East is obscure is because on the strength of that one song, I followed the Half Price Bookstore manager's recommendation and purchased the Flat as a Pancake LP. Then followed it up later by getting three of their other LPs.
So while I can't remember the names of most of the songs (20 year time interval), I know much more of what they did and their sound than most people who only know the one song.

They were a good, unappreciated band out of many good, unappreciated 70s bands.
