Two Questions « Politics As Usual »

1) Why do Democrats apparently insist on pretending they are still supported by the majority of US citizens?

2) What kind of name is Haley Joel Osment, anyway?

Was that first question serious?

Yes.

Well, it's more profound than it sounds.

Remember the nervous conditions afte the election, the persistent vote rigging myth, and the seeming ideological incoherence of the modern Dem movement?

I beleive the answer to your question is here: Connections and Consistency

I'd be happy to discuss it with you after you've had time to read it.

You're right. That link (particularly the discussion in the comments there) provided an excellent answer.

Let me do some more reading before I take up a discussion with you, however. I don't want to embarass myself by arguing something you already addressed/answered.

Still, I'm also interested in other viewpoints. Yours is an excellent dispassionate assessment. Despite what Warwick thinks, you obviously weren't trying to prove one side or other, and were looking at the issue as objectively as possible. Far more objectively than I could, at least.

I'm still hoping I can get a response from some self-identified liberals, though, because the response itself will be informative, regardless of the extent to which I agree or disagree.

Still, who'd name their son "Haley", yanno?

Hollywood does that to people. It makes them name people strange things so that they can be different. Then, they also convince themselves that they think like mainstream America.

While I can't be absolutely certain, I believe Haley Joel Osment was given that name to help prepare him for a fallback career in case the whole acting, "I see dead people" thing didn't pan out. I read somewhere awhile back that it's a job requirement for assassins or serial killers to have 3 names. Of course Haley probably will have to grow up just a bit, but its always good to be prepared.

Go Packers! :)

That's as plausible an answer as anything I could think of.

Oh, and the KC Chiefs would be just as pleased to defeat the Packers in the Superbowl as any other NFC team. [grin]
