The Supreme Court Continues Assault on Bill of Rights (UPDATED) « Politics As Usual »

[Bumped to the Top]

Way to go, people.

I'll admit, a good part of my pique is that other than Justice O'Conner, this is the same group that thinks you have no right to your personal property. And so, my first reaction is that anything this "liberal bloc" rules should be viewed with suspicion, if not outright hostility. Thanks, Justice O'Conner. Thanks so much.

UPDATE: I feel a little better reading this. But only a little.

UPDATE II: I feel a little better because they allowed some religious displays. I don't feel very much better because the test they seemed to apply is, bottom line:

You can only express a religion you don't believe in.

Non-adherents to Binky the Space Clown rejoiced worldwide.

If you haven't already figured it out, I'm not a Christian and nor do I believe in God, but this bothers me (the decision).

I don't care what your belief is, you can not deny that our laws were based upon religious principles (i.e., The Ten Commandments).

America is no longer the country our Founding Fathers established.

Gordon, there's a thing us conservative types call "strange new respect," referring to people like Anthony Kennedy who start out as alleged conservatives, only to suddenly and inexplicably become darlings of the left-of-center by embracing notions dear to said left-of-center types.

You are now in danger of receiving the right-of-center version of this "strange new respect."

Please help us all regain our bearings by saying something us red-state types can disagree with. ;-)
