Because people who work sitting down decide who gets paid what.

That'd be my guess anyway.

Sure. But what I was thinking was that people who work standing up are providing value with their physical skills, whereas people who work sitting down are usually providing value with their mental skills. While the latter may not be exhausting, it is more difficult to determine who is capable of the job, and so when you find someone who is, you tend to value them more for their uniqueness, thus raising their price.

...now, we won't discuss those who work lying down, okay? [grin]
