Good News For Pontiac « Car Issues »

Just think how good the numbers would have been if the G6 had been a better car! As in, either more competitive with Camry/Accord, or such a price value (like the Suzuki Verona) that, combined with brand recognition, the G6 could have challenged for being a best-selling car in its class. Anyway, here's the facts::

FACT: Estimated January through end-April (at current rate of sales), the available version of the G6 will be outselling the same version of its Grand Am predecessor by more than 70 percent. That’s comparing V6 sedan to V6 sedan.
and,
FACT: We are currently selling 75 percent fewer vehicles to rental fleets.

On top of this, it looks like the Solstice will be a hit, too. GM needs volume sales, to be sure. I hope they get it, and I hope they learn to keep pace with consumer expectations more effectively in the future!

I'd love it if the Solstice were a hit, but frankly, I don't see how...

Hmmm...maybe I'm mis-defining 'hit'. It seems like a cool car, and they sold something like 10k in 41 minutes (pre-orders). That sounds like a darn good start to me.
...but if that's all they sell, yeah, that's a bust.

I'm curious how many of the other G6 owners had serious safety issues with their vehicle after 2 weeks of ownership? It's very disappointing that Pontiac also chose to provide the worst customer service I have ever experienced from any corporation. Pontiac will continue to struggle if they don't take care of their customers and stand behind their products.

Kristin,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having such problems.
My criticisms of GM (and its subordinate brands), as well as my encouragements are because I really want to see American car companies do better. It really bothers me to hear that you are getting bad treatment from them.

Pontiac and GM have no problem blowing off cutomers...this is my seconf GM car the first a cavalier and they robbed me of a payment and refused to fix a leaky window...just a horrible
experiance...so I changed for a 02 grand am...not much better after only 2 months, brake problems, window problems, noises from back window, lights with water in them...the list goes on and on...and all they have to say is its not under warranty...the car had 6000km and its not under warranty? Now that I have to return the car because its a lease they want to charge me for those same repairs because they were not taken care of...what a joke. Support north amercan companies sure...but we don't have theirs.

very dissapointing indeed.
