Great News! « Stuff Important to Me »

My sister's scan came out clean! No sign of cancer anywhere but the lump. They probably won't even have to do a full mastectomy!

Thanks for your prayers!*

*even though some might insist that since it turned out okay, it was always okay and so prayers were unnecessary, and if it hadn't turned out okay, that would be proof that prayers don't work. The logical fallacy of that is left as an exercise for the reader. Please note: I am not introducing this as evidence that prayer works in a cause/effect system, but I will insist that even if all prayer does is increase the feeling of connection and closeness between people who care, it is worth it. And that it allows people to let go and worry less is an even more certain and more useful effect. Finally, I do believe that prayers have effect, but outside time, so that things that happen now (prayers) can affect things that happened in the past (the progress of cancer). It is a belief, to be sure, but one that comforts me.

We'll see if prayers work or not. I prayed for her health at the same time asking for something else. Let me know if your knees mysteriously break any time soon.

Seriously, glad everything looks good. I said my prayers right after I read your post. And God knows (pun very much intended) I don't pray enough.

LOL! Well, they were aching a little bit last night...

Thanks, SaaM, for your prayers.

None of us pray enough, I think. My biggest problem, though, has been praying with doubt rather than faith, I think. Recently I've been including more faith, and have been seeing more results. As someone who used to not believe in miracles, it is an amazing thing.

Glad to hear it. Here's hoping whatever necessary treatment left over goes smoothly.
