Truly Un-Amazing « Stuff Important to Me »

So I had a little denouement the other day.

Nothing big. Most of you, if not all, will scratch your head and say, "How did he last 36 years on this planet without figuring that out until now?"

What can I say? [shrug] I'm pretty stupid sometimes.

If you've read this site for very long, you know I consider everything that happens in life to be the result of choices. Not always personal choices, because the choice of another person to disregard your needs or desires in pursuit of their own can definitely have a profound effect on your life, as well. But still, the result of choices. Which, incidentally, is how I believe we can have a benevolent God watching over this world in which a great deal of evil occurs: He allows us to have our choices, always standing ready to accept if we choose Him. But I digress.

I, like everyone else, have hopes and dreams (I'm told the construction of that sentence is a syllepsis. FYI). I make choices in an attempt to bring about those hopes and dreams.

But it struck me a few days ago: I can do more than just make choices. I can actually work to bring about the future I wish for myself and my loved ones.

I know, I know: pretty obvious. I really don't think I have the words to describe how it hit me like a ton of bricks, however. It has had zero impact on my actual actions or situations over the last few days...but like a slight shift in the rudder that changes the course for the huge tanker ship, I think the impact will be more and more evident to me as time goes on.
