In the "Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?" department, a lump in my 2nd-eldest sister's breast turned out to not only be malignant, but also the fastest-spreading kind. The doctor thinks they can shrink it with chemotherapy and then do a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy.
Prayers for her would be a good thing to get me for Christmas.
Oh, I am so sorry, Nathan. Will pray.
Posted by: Rae at December 15, 2004 12:35 AMYeesh. I'll pray for her as well.
Posted by: Sharp as a Marble at December 15, 2004 04:59 AMVery sorry to hear that. I will be hoping for the best for her and for you.
Posted by: Jim - PRS at December 15, 2004 05:36 AMI hope I don't sound too callous, but I'm okay with it.
First, there's not a tangible thing I can do to help.
Second, our health technology is advanced enough that even though this is a very aggressive cancer, the chances of stopping it in its tracks are excellent. I can't say whether or not she caught it "early", but I have two aunts still alive that beat this exact same thing 15 years ago.
Third, she and her family are very strong in Christ, so I feel confident they are relying on Him for comfort.
Fourth, because of their faith, which I share, death does lack its harsh sting.
But prayers are still a good thing, of course. I will receive them with gratitude and pass them on to her with my own added, and with love and support.
Posted by: Nathan at December 15, 2004 05:52 AMPrayers started. Keep us posted.
