The Great Inland Northwest Blogjam, Attempt 1 « Stuff Important to Me »

Okay, I declare this Friday to be the first Spokane blog meet-up. We are going to meet at the bar restaurant section* at John Michael's Thomas** restaurant (used to be The Solicitor's Corner) at the Northwest corner of Francis and Division, because it is insanely easy to find: it's the big yellow barn-looking thing right across from PetCo.
We'll meet between 7 and 7:30pm 8 and 8:30pm. Don't be late, because once we all get there, I will be open to suggestions that we relocate to a different venue. Then again, we may spend the whole evening there...

Significant others are more than welcome, if not actually required. Unfortunately, children aren't allowed in the bar section... Ask for "Nathan's Table" when you get there. Or if you get there first, set up "Nathan's Table". [grin] Right now, I wouldn't expect more than 8 of us, max.

Check back later in the week, because if anyone is adamant about changing the date or location or time, we'll discuss it here. I know it's short notice, but you work with the time you have...

Oh, and I only know of 5 Spokane-area bloggers, including me, so feel free to send others this way if you know of 'em. Heck, if anyone wants to come out from Seattle or anything, speak up now!

*there ain't NO WAY we are going to miss out on getting Dana up there just because of stupid bar rules. Beer isn't that important. Ever. Oh, and the entire restaurant is non-smoking, so any little ones are protected. Slipping outside for a smoke break for those who partake shouldn't be a problem. I was going to offer to buy one round, but if no one objects, I'll instead put that money toward a massive tip for the waitstaff whose table we dominate and an appetizer sampler platter to act as an evening snack.

If John Michael's Thomas isn't the best or most convenient place, is there a better one? Like a Denny's downtown or something? I'm most familiar with the northern part of town, but if we've got people from South Hill and from south of town, I'm open to moving it....

**I might just delete this post and start over. Sheesh.

Hey! Coolness! We'll be there -- only fashionably late because I'll have to wait for Darling Hubby to get off work before we can attend.

He will be exiting the workplace some point after 7:00 p.m. So, we should be able to make it sometime after 8:00 p.m. You have the cell # if you change venues.

I'll letcha know if anything changes.

:)

Excellent! One positive response, one negative (by email), so we're cooking now!

So I'm going to change it to 8-8:30pm, then, unless that change meets howls of protest. That will allow me to get my kids in bed first. I only said 7pm in case people felt that would give more time to B.S.

...I'm, uh, new to the blogmeetup arranging thingy...

remember the nametags. ;)

And don't be afraid to use meetup! it's free. :)

Yeah, but nobody here seems to pay attention to 'Meetup!'
:(
Maybe you should take Friday off and drive up here. You can do it in only 6 hours...or less if you've got a hot car like an Alero or something...

Posted by: Nathan at October 6, 2004 02:42 PM

Oh yes! Please come, Jo! I'd love to meetcha.

Nathan, the e-mail thingie seems to be going fine. Let me know if I can help.

Dangit!! I would come, but unfortunately bars are out for me (still exclusively nursing, must bring Wee One along). If you decide to change the venue to something a little more accommodating of Sprites, let me know, and I'll be there!

Posted by: Dana at October 6, 2004 03:09 PM

Dangit is right. :(

Posted by: Margi at October 6, 2004 03:15 PM

If I had more time, I would. As it is, we're supposed to be in Vancouver for MT's father's birthday Saturday, but we're so bogged down here...

Posted by: Jo at October 6, 2004 03:35 PM

oh, and thanks for the "Hot Alero" comment! LOL It just got new tires, too. She's ready!

Posted by: Jo at October 6, 2004 03:36 PM

Well, if I still lived in Missoula, we'd be there.

Unfortunately, it's 6 hours just to get to Missoula from here.

Posted by: Craig at October 6, 2004 03:40 PM

Jo,
Oh, you have an Alero? Fancy that...[grin]
Craig,
Dang. Your presence would have been welcome. But if it works at all, we'll do another one, and if this gets to be regular at all, then I'm going to have a going-away meetup when I move in the Spring. We should be able to have one of these at a convenient time.

Um, I got my kitchen pass for Friday night. Would it work better for Saturday night for anyone? It should probably only cost me an extra $50 of Clearance Sale shopping to make the change, so that's do-able for me....

Posted by: Nathan at October 6, 2004 03:45 PM

Ahhh DOUBLE - nah TRIPLE dang!

I would so love to shake your hand, Craig.

Posted by: Margi at October 6, 2004 04:22 PM

LOL! Let me know when and where. We don't have to have adult beverages; but I haven't gone out in a LONG TIME. Alcohol helps with stage fright.

But whatever -- I'm game for whatever is decided.

Posted by: Margi at October 6, 2004 04:59 PM

Oh, you can still get beer in the restaurant, naturally.
I guess I'll be sitting there at 7pm at John Michael's (in case anyone is early) and nursing a beer...

Posted by: Nathan at October 6, 2004 06:29 PM

Well, then. All is well! We'll see you there, Nathan. :)

Posted by: Margi at October 6, 2004 06:41 PM

Either Friday or Saturday is fine with me. I was planning on being in Spokane Saturday anyway, chillin' with Margi, but if this shindig goes down for Friday, I can just be there that day instead. Either way, I'm game. Thanks for accommodating me, Nathan! It'll be good to see you again. :)

Check out the bloggers section of the SpokesmanReview - there are many more out there.

A lot of other blogers read SpoVegas.com, so if you can get him to post about the meet-up, you may get a few more.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer in the area :(

Posted by: Jana at October 7, 2004 07:05 AM

Is this still on? I'm planning to be there, so please email me ASAP if it's off.
